Source: Gazprom, European Commission holding talks in Brussels
BRUSSELS, Mar 9 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom Deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev and European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager are currently holding talks in the European Commission’s headquarters, a diplomatic source in Brussels told PRIME on Wednesday.
Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky said in late February that Gazprom could meet the European Commission to discuss the antimonopoly claims against it in March.
The European Commission initiated the investigation against Gazprom in August 2012 and officially accused it of violating the E.U. competition rules in April 2015. According to the authority, Gazprom restricted free supplies to E.U. countries by splitting gas markets, preventing diversification of supplies and setting unfair prices.
